Rose Akinyi Opondo is a Senior Lecturer of Contemporary Orality. She currently teaches literature courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Moi University. She has over fifteen years of experience as a University lecturer, examiner and researcher with 5 journal articles, 1 book chapter and 1 book length publications. She is currently the Chairperson of the Department of Literature, Linguistics, Foreign languages and Film Studies. Dr. Opondo is also a member and Secretary of Kenya Oral Literature Association (KOLA) and International Society of Oral Literatures in Africa (ISOLA) respectively. She is also a Reviewer for Tydskrif vir Letterkunde. South Africa and The Eastern Africa Literary Journal, Kenya.
Dr. Opondo is a trained curriculum developer and has also trained in Communication skills and Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (PEDAL) by PASGR and in Graduate-Level Research Training in Oral History and Oral Literature in Eastern Africa by The Open Society University Network (OSUN) Research Hub in Eastern Africa. She is a seasoned researcher in oral arts and culture, specializing in contemporary orality and has supported a postgraduate research project in the same field that has won grants from CELHTO. In April, 2021 she participated in the Validation Workshop of The Draft Statutes of CELHTO.
